Stewards Canada is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to providing mortgage financing to Brethren assembly churches, schools, nursing facilities, camps and other ministries.

Banks are generally reluctant to lend to churches, due to donations being the sole source of income. Higher interest rates and strict conditions are usually given to offset the perception of higher risk. In contrast, Stewards Canada offers standard mortgage interest rates and more lenient mortgage terms because of our familiarity with church financing, our history with Brethren assemblies and our care in ensuring that mortgage security is sufficient to cover the loan amount.

Mission statement
The Stewards Canada Mission is “Investing for Service”.

How it works
Bond-, RRSP-, and RRIF-holders invest their funds into Stewards Canada and earn an investment rate of return, while serving the Lord’s work. In turn, Stewards is able to invest the funds into mortgages of assembly properties and in so doing, serve the Christian community. By investing in their buildings, the local assemblies are able to serve the Lord in their individual communities.

History
Stewards Canada has been active in providing financing to Canadian assemblies since January 31,1952. During that period of time, over 300 churches have received financing assistance. Stewards Canada has been able to assist churches in all the Canadian provinces except one. Stewards Canada takes care in assessing the loan risk, and the faithfulness of the assemblies to which we loan funds, resulting in a perfect track record with not one loan loss.

Stewards Canada has no governance or financial ties to any other charity.
